Mohammed VI: “Any aggression against Saudi Arabia is an aggression against Morocco”
King Mohammed VI directly links Morocco’s security to that of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf monarchies. The sovereign also calls for sanctions against the Houthis and those who finance, arm and support them.
Mohammed VI sent two messages to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman following repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi territory, according to a statement from the Royal Cabinet.

“Any aggression against Saudi Arabia is an aggression against Morocco,” the sovereign says. In his view, the security of the Saudi kingdom and the other countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council is “inseparable” from that of Morocco, while defending their vital interests is a matter of shared strategic interests.
The king condemns the attacks on Saudi cities, residential areas, civilian and economic facilities, and vital infrastructure. He also denounces attempts targeting Mecca and Medina, describing them as an attack on the feelings of more than 1.8 billion Muslims.
Mohammed VI calls for international sanctions
The royal message is directed squarely at the Houthis, but also at “those who support, finance and arm them.” Mohammed VI considers them responsible “before God, History and international law” and believes they should face the resulting international sanctions.
The sovereign also takes aim at “regional powers” that support militias described as terrorist and separatist. Without naming any countries, he accuses them of threatening the security of their neighbours, destabilising the entire region and targeting maritime routes essential to the global economy.
The solidarity shown with Riyadh extends a long-standing position. As early as 2016, Mohammed VI had said that the security of Morocco and that of the Gulf states were “one and indivisible.” The kingdom had also condemned Houthi attacks against the United Arab Emirates in 2022.

The King of Morocco also invokes Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2722, which call in particular for the Houthis to withdraw, surrender their weapons, end the violence and stop attacks on maritime navigation. Targeting civilians, economic infrastructure and holy sites “cannot go unpunished,” the statement says.
