Minister Explains Ryanair’s Exclusion of Nador Airport from Domestic Flights

Mohammed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, explains the reasons for the exclusion of the Al Aroui-Nador airport from the domestic flights of the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair.
"It has been authorized for the company Ryanair to schedule specific domestic flights between certain Moroccan cities," replied Mohammed Abdeljalil, questioned in Parliament on the reasons for the exclusion of the Al Aroui-Nador airport from Ryanair’s domestic flights. He took care to specify that the current program of the Irish low-cost company concerns the summer season 2024 (March - October 2024) as a complement to the flight programs ensured by the national airlines.
"The program in question is proposed by the company, and not by the ministry," the minister further specified, stating that his department "does not provide any financial support to the company which determines its program based on the profitability factor." Ryanair now serves 12 Moroccan cities for 175 different routes and 1,100 flights per week during the high season. It expects to carry five million passengers in Moroccan airports during this summer season, an increase of 33% compared to last year.
The minister also assured that "the door is open to any Moroccan airline to operate new domestic air routes from and to the Al Aroui airport in Nador without any restriction, or exceptionally and under specific conditions for foreign airlines."
