Military Deployed to Enforce COVID-19 Measures in Major Moroccan Cities

After joining the barracks, following the lifting of the lockdown, a few weeks ago, the military are back in the cities marked by the resurgence of coronavirus contamination cases.
In Casablanca, Marrakech and Béni Mellal, the army is mobilizing to ensure compliance with preventive measures to counter the coronavirus. Photos and videos of these armored vehicles spotted, Friday, August 21, on Boulevard Brahim Roudani, near the headquarters of the BNPJ (National Brigade of the Judicial Police, on the eve of the entry into force of the new restrictions have been widely relayed on social networks, reports Assabah.
They were expected, Saturday, August 22 on the Agadir corniche and in certain neighborhoods, placed in quarantine to carry out patrols. The resurgence of new cases has led to the closure of six neighborhoods, hammams, beauty salons, hairdressers, sports halls and fields.
In the city of Marrakech, the second most infected city in the Kingdom, 12 neighborhoods have been barricaded and controls at the city’s entry and exit points have been strengthened. As for the secondary roads, they have been closed in order to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
