Mbappé Defends Teammate Hakimi Against Fan Chants in Tense PSG Victory

French international Kylian Mbappé was annoyed by the attitude of the supporters who insulted his teammate and friend Achraf Hakimi by calling him a "rapist" during the match between PSG and Brest, won by the Parisian club (3-2).
PSG won this Sunday, October 29, on the lawn of Brest on the occasion of the 10th day of Ligue 1 (3-2), but what will have retained the most attention of football lovers are the tensions at the end of the match. Author of a double, Kylian Mbappé who did not digest the insulting chants of the Brest public who chanted "Hakimi is a rapist" from the stands exploded with anger. He taunted the Brest supporters several times to the point of receiving a yellow card and angering the public as well as the players. Criticized by L’Équipe journalist Bertrand Latour, the captain of the French national team defends himself on X (ex-Twitter): "Of course, and I should have even sung with them when they insulted my teammate. Some people have really never set foot on a football pitch no matter the level..."
Eric Roy, Brest coach, did not appreciate the behavior of the PSG star. "I find it ridiculous, he must have been so above it all. It’s a stadium with a rather healthy atmosphere. Of course, you can always be hassled, it’s normal, and him, he’s the star. If I go back twenty years, it’s a game that could have degenerated, it could have been serious. There may be things to do, because it’s going to happen often. I’m not interested in elaborating, but it tarnishes the image of this match," he said at the press conference. Paris coach Luis Enrique agreed. "I don’t like this kind of thing. It’s better to try to enjoy the moment, think about everything that’s around football and give positive energy. I don’t really know what happened (with the supporters, editor’s note)."
In March, Achraf Hakimi was indicted for rape after a 24-year-old woman accused him of raping her at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, in the western suburbs of Paris. Accusations denied by the Moroccan right-back of PSG. The trial is still ongoing today.
