Mauritius Football Chief Apologizes for Team’s Sudden CHAN Futsal Withdrawal

The president of the Mauritius Football Federation, Samir Sobha, present at the seminar on the development of African football in Salé, expressed his regrets about the withdrawal of his team from the CHAN futsal in Laâyoune.
Sanctioned by CAF, following its unexpected withdrawal from the Futsal CHAN, Mauritius, through the president of its National Football Federation, has apologized to Morocco, the FRMF and also to CAF. "We couldn’t do otherwise," he said.
Samir Sobha has not yet digested the defection of the Mauritian futsal national team, especially since this withdrawal was totally unexpected for him, the staff and the players. Justifying the withdrawal of his team, he explains: "There is a neighboring country that has come forward to say that they should not participate in this tournament because it is taking place in Laâyoune," regrets Samir Sobha. This neighboring country is South Africa, which itself had withdrawn a few days before this CHAN futsal, the same source specifies.
Invited to participate in this competition after 47 years without qualification for a continental competition, the president acknowledges the mistake made by taking responsibility.
Furthermore, he wanted to clarify the sanction incurred to refute the rumors: "in the letter I received from CAF, we have a fine of $75,000 and also we will be suspended for two years and not two CHAN".
