Mauritania Limits Moroccan Produce Imports to Boost Domestic Agriculture

Mauritania has decided to reduce imports of vegetables from Morocco. The origin of this decision is a desire by the country to promote the national product.
While Mauritania imports the majority of its vegetables from Morocco, it has decided to reduce its imports. From now on, only two trucks of 30 tons of tomatoes per day, from the kingdom, are authorized. Another decision: Mauritania will no longer import carrots from the kingdom.
The Mauritanian Ministry of Commerce and Tourism has sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance to inform it of the decision. This decision is "motivated by the desire to promote the national product", indicates the letter, specifying that only the suppliers mentioned in the letter are authorized to exceed the tonnage indicated for the imported tomatoes. Five days are retained for imports: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
