Massive Sandstorm Engulfs Marrakech, Disrupts Life in Moroccan Cities

Many Moroccan cities were hit on Saturday by a sandstorm, particularly the very touristy city of Marrakech.
Impressive videos shared on social media testify to the magnitude of the phenomenon, with clouds of dust covering buildings and trees.
In Marrakech, panic quickly seized the inhabitants in the face of the violence of the winds and the breathing difficulties caused by the sand. Movements have become perilous, forcing many Marrakchis to remain locked up at home.
These sandstorms, loaded with fine particles, originating from the coasts of Agadir, have quickly invaded the streets, considerably reducing visibility.
According to the forecasts of the National Meteorological Directorate (DMN), this exceptional weather situation should last for a few more days.
Agadir, Kalaat Sraghna, Béni Mellal, Rabat, Tadla and Meknès are also affected by these sand winds.
