Massive Fish Die-Off in Coastal River Near Tangier Sparks Environmental Concerns

Environmental activists are concerned about significant fish mortality in the course of a coastal river, in the commune of Ksar El Majaz, near Tangier.
Is water pollution or environmental changes affecting the river’s ecosystem the cause of this significant fish mortality? For now, the causes of this phenomenon remain unknown. Meanwhile, environmental activists are calling for urgent intervention by the competent authorities.
They are calling on local authorities to take immediate measures to protect the population from the risks related to the consumption of dead fish and to investigate the reasons for this mortality. Some individuals have started to collect them to sell them in local markets, thus threatening the safety of consumers. These fish could contain harmful or polluting substances that pose a danger to public health for those who consume them.
Given these dangers, environmental activists have called for a ban on the sale of these fish in the markets. They have also called for sanctions to be imposed on individuals involved in this illegal activity that endangers the lives of consumers. They also indicated that it is necessary to carry out scientific studies to determine the cause of this environmental phenomenon and to work on urgent solutions to limit its effects.
