Morocco Emerges as Top Fish Exporter to Russia, Second Only to Vietnam

Morocco has exported significant quantities of frozen fish to Russia since the beginning of this year, becoming the second largest supplier of seafood products to that country.
According to data from the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Morocco exported more than 2,300 tons of seafood products to Russia between January and October 2024, approaching Vietnam which exported 2,500 tons during the period.
For a few years now, Russia has diversified its sources of seafood supply, making massive imports from Ecuador, Thailand and India. The latter country provided 827 tons of these products to Russia during the period, it is indicated.
In detail, Russia imported more than 13,000 tons of shrimp and prawns from Argentina, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, India and Ecuador, as well as 885 tons of mussels and 23 tons of young octopus from China and Chile.
