Marvel’s ’Eternals’ Banned in Gulf States Over Same-Sex Kiss and Religious Concerns

The new Marvel film "The Eternals" has been banned in several Arab countries. The reason: a kiss between two men and mystical characters considered blasphemous.
This Disney feature film has outraged the authorities in Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, as well as other countries in Europe and Asia, who have imposed censorship, reports vanityfair.fr.
According to the same source, this ban would be related to the incorporation of the very first gay superhero in the Marvel cinematic universe. The character in question, Phastos (played by Brian Tyree Henry), has several touching scenes with his husband (played by Haaz Sleiman). The two exchange a kiss as well as a beautiful love declaration, in addition to tender moments with their young son. Horror, for these countries that do not accept this type of relationship.
In order to allow the release of the film in their countries, the authorities asked the director to modify some scenes, which Disney refused to do, the media points out, specifying that in these countries, homosexuality is illegal. "This would not be the first time they have banned a film including a same-sex couple," it is added.
Furthermore, the film has been strongly criticized for its LGBTQIA+ representation and has even become the lowest rated film in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
