Marseille Eyes Moroccan Sensation Ali Maamar in Transfer Tug-of-War
After Yassine Gessime, Olympique de Marseille (OM) is targeting a new Moroccan prodigy in the final of the U20 Football World Cup with Morocco against Argentina.
Ali Maamar is on OM’s radar. The Marseille club would be showing interest in the young Anderlecht right-back, reports the Transferfeed website, adding that Roberto De Zerbi’s wish is to add depth to his squad, particularly on the right flank despite the presence of Amir Murillo, Pol Lirola, Benjamin Pavard or Timothy Weah. According to Marseille’s recruiters, Ali Maamar’s profile can easily meet the Italian coach’s expectations.
Before the U20 World Cup, PSG and Barça were interested in Ali, whose market value was estimated at 2 million euros on Transfermarkt. Currently, he could be better valued due to his performances with the Moroccan U20 national team. Anderlecht wants to keep him, but OM could weigh heavily to recruit the Moroccan prodigy.
Before Ali, Marseille had targeted Yassine Gessime. OM would like to acquire the services of this Moroccan prodigy from Ligue 2 who is the revelation of his selection during the U20 World Cup, which is currently taking place in Chile.
