Marrakech Tourism Hits Record High with 4 Million Visitors in 2024

With nearly 4 million tourists recorded in 2024, Marrakech sets a new historical record.

In 2024, Marrakech welcomed nearly 4 million tourists. A new historical record. Overnight stays also increased, reaching more than 12 million with an average occupancy rate exceeding 72%, said Hamid Bentahar, President of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Marrakech-Safi during the CRT Executive Committee meeting in Marrakech on Friday. "These results reflect the joint efforts of public and private actors to promote Marrakech as a destination of choice worldwide," he said. And to estimate: "These results are a source of collective pride, but they must above all inspire us to strengthen our efforts to position Marrakech as an essential and sustainable destination, in the image of the great tourist capitals of the world".

For his part, the Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), Achraf Fayda, stressed the importance of this dynamic. An inclusive territorial approach, enhancing the potential of the surrounding provinces, is crucial to sustain this growth, he nevertheless estimated, while reaffirming ONMT’s commitment to support Marrakech in this diversification of international markets. The presidents of the professional associations in the tourism sector unanimously welcomed the efforts of the ONMT. They also stressed the importance of a proactive strategy for the development of new international markets. According to them, it is necessary to strengthen air links with long-haul markets such as Latin America, Asia and Africa.

In unison, the CRT, the ONMT and the sector’s players have made a commitment to keep Marrakech on an upward trajectory, with the aim of making 2025 an even more memorable year.
