Marrakech Tops African Cities for Business Travel, Study Finds

A Moroccan city tops the ranking of African metropolises preferred for business travel.
With 1,221 geolocated messages, Marrakech takes first place in the ranking of the 10 African cities preferred for business travel, established by the Givetastic platform. Another Moroccan city that appears in the top: Casablanca. The economic capital of Morocco ranks 7th with 339 geolocated messages. "Morocco is striving to become a more important player in the global business world, with Casablanca leading in the financial field," comments the platform.
With 935 geolocated messages, Lagos (Nigeria) rises to 2nd place in the ranking. It is followed by Cape Town (572 geolocated messages). Nairobi (Kenya) takes fourth place with 396 geolocated messages. Then come Cairo (383 geolocated messages), Mombasa (341 geolocated messages) and Abuja (297 geolocated messages). Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and Johannesburg (South Africa) complete the top 10 with 275 and 269 geolocated messages respectively.
At the global level, it is Miami (United States) that tops the ranking with (12,925 geolocated messages.) It is followed by London (10,516). Then come New York (9,812) and Las Vegas (8,954). Paris (8,140) completes the top 5.
To develop these rankings, the Givetastic platform conducted a study over the period October 2022-February 2024. It took into account the last million Instagram posts under the #businesstrip hashtag. Then, it analyzed the geographic data to identify the city of each publication.
