Marrakech Tightens Entry Controls to Combat COVID-19 Spread

In Marrakech, control measures are being strengthened at the city’s entrances and exits. This is the decision taken by the local authorities, in order to avoid in particular the spread of the coronavirus and its variants in the kingdom.
On the ground, several checkpoints have been installed at the entrances and exits of the ochre city, reports Alyaoum24. The aim is to ensure that new arrivals have an exceptional travel authorization. These checks also aim to prevent any eventuality of contagion and to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus and its variants.
Responding to a question from an Internet user on Twitter, the head of government Saâdeddine El Othmani had indicated that the cancellation of the ban on inter-city travel was "under study". For the time being, no decision has been made in this direction.
As of June 21, 9,463,219 people have received the first dose while 8,300,556 have been given the second dose. The Covid-19 report shows 526,737 cases of contamination, 513,898 recoveries and 9,244 deaths.
