Marrakech taxi prices surge amid public outrage
The increase in fares for grand taxis connecting Sidi Bou Othmane to Marrakech is causing outrage. Users are denouncing a price hike that weighs heavily on their daily budgets, in the absence of sufficient transport alternatives.
The journey now costs 15 dirhams per person, compared to just 9 dirhams for public buses. This gap is deemed unacceptable by the many workers and students who use this line every day. Without regular and sufficient means of transportation to connect the two areas, this new pricing directly impacts the finances of these travelers.
