Marrakech Ranks 5th Among World’s Most Romantic Destinations, Study Finds

According to the ranking of DiscoverCars.com, a website specializing in car rentals, Marrakech is in fifth place out of 23 romantic destinations around the world with nearly 440 million TikTok views and the hashtags #Marrakesh and #MarrakechLovers. The ochre city is followed by Siem Reap in Cambodia, Lausanne in Switzerland and Shimla in India.

To establish its ranking of the 23 best romantic destinations, "to enjoy special moments with their partner, DiscoverCars has in particular exploited the Forbes list, then has taken into account the relevant hashtag of each destination and a romantic themed hashtag on TikTok before ranking them according to the number of views.

"It is always valuable to keep an eye on current trends across social media platforms, especially when it comes to travel," said the site manager. And he added: "We found it extremely interesting to see places like Queenstown and Svalbard in the top 5, which are not particularly the tourist spots that come to mind when it comes to planning a romantic stay. This highlights the number of options available to couples."
