Marrakech Named Among World’s Top 50 Cities for 2025 by Time Out Magazine

A global magazine places a Moroccan city in the ranking of the 50 best cities in the world in 2025.
Marrakech ranks 32nd in the list of the 50 best cities in the world in 2025, established by Time Out. The city owes its place to its grandeur. "Native Marrakechis exude hospitality. Their adaptability and deeply rooted community spirit were evident when the earthquake that hit the city in late 2023 became an opportunity for growth and renewal. More than a year later, the city is buzzing with a thriving art and festive scene," comments the magazine.
Time Out invites tourists to discover the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, the Marrakech Film Festival and Fashion Week, but also to wander through the narrow streets of the old medina for a glimpse of Islamic life and traditions. The red city boasts design riad-hotels like Izza and Rosemary, new centers like M Avenue that attract locals who love pedestrian streets, lively cafes, air-conditioned shops and trendy rooftops like Zest.
Last year, Marrakech was voted among our best food cities for its culinary diversity, from street food to Michelin-starred restaurants. It was voted the fifth most welcoming city in the world this year, with 78% of residents saying it was easy to make new friends there. Marrakechis were also the fifth most likely group to feel happier in their city than anywhere else.
Cape Town tops the ranking. The South African city is followed by Bangkok and New York. Melbourne (Australia) takes fourth place, while London occupies fifth place.
To establish the ranking of the 50 best cities in the world in 2025, Time Out conducted a survey of more than 18,500 city dwellers. They shared their views on topics as varied as gastronomy, nightlife, culture, affordability, happiness, and the general atmosphere of the city. The magazine also asked its global network of urban experts to vote for the places they consider particularly interesting right now.
