Marrakech to Launch Hydrogen-Powered Scooter Fleet, Boosting Green Transportation

Several hundred hydrogen-powered scooters will, in the very near future, circulate in Marrakech.
After concluding a memorandum of understanding with the city of Marrakech and the regional council, the Franco-Swiss company Aaqius has developed a small-sized storage solution, a kind of metal can, called STOR-H. Two STOR-H cans the size of soda cans could offer a range of 100 km to an electric scooter. A hydrogen recharge that turns into electricity would be enough. The energy used to produce the hydrogen will be produced locally from solar power plants, thanks to the generous sunshine in the country.
This technology will solve the problems posed by storage (cost, dangerousness), as until now it was necessary to liquefy hydrogen at less than 253 degrees or compress it to more than 200 bars minimum to reduce its volume, specifies Innon24news.
Similarly, this innovation will help improve air quality in the ochre city where 120,000 four-wheeled vehicles and 170,000 two-wheelers currently circulate. Marrakech is ranked the second most polluted city in Morocco. Last year, it recorded a particulate matter rate in the air of 58 micrograms per cubic meter. Yet the maximum threshold is set at 20 micrograms by the WHO standard.
