Marrakech Hotels Reopen, Aiming to Revive Winter Tourism Despite Border Closures

In Marrakech, hoteliers want to save the winter season at all costs despite the closure of borders. Already about fifty establishments have reopened their doors.
"Marrakech has a card to play during the winter season. Tourists have not lost the desire to travel. If we allow them to come, the image of Morocco is very positive," the president of the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Marrakech-Safi told Le360.
To save this winter season, about fifty establishments have already opened their doors. Among them, the large palaces (La Mamounia, the Royal Mansour, the Four Seasons), museums, restaurants, etc. Hoteliers hope to regain financial health during this period of health crisis related to the coronavirus.
The president of the CRT of Marrakech-Safi, for his part, calls for the removal of the obligation of the serological test (because not providing an answer on the immediacy of the virus) and the extension of the required deadline for the PCR test (from 48 to 72 hours). In early September, Morocco had simplified access to its territory for foreign nationals with a confirmed hotel reservation.
