Marrakech Cracks Down on Fast-Food Outlets After Food Poisoning Outbreak

In Marrakech, the inspection controls of fast-food restaurants following a collective food poisoning incident in a snack bar are bearing fruit. Dozens of establishments have already been closed and about ten people arrested.
Tough times for fast-food restaurants. More than 50 authorized businesses have been closed for non-compliance with standards, and more than 60 others have suffered the same fate for lack of a license, as part of the ongoing inspection controls in Marrakech, reports Kech24. Fearing a possible closure, dozens of food sales businesses have decided to close their doors. As a result, residents are facing enormous difficulty finding an establishment in certain neighborhoods of the ochre city.
In addition to the closure of establishments, more than 10 people have been arrested for endangering the lives of citizens with unfit products, after the two food poisoning cases recorded in Marrakech within a month. Two people died and 24 others were poisoned after eating spoiled meat in a snack bar. Several other people have also been victims of food poisoning after eating a meal in a snack bar.
