Marrakech Court Delays Trial of Kuwaiti National in Child Sexual Abuse Case

The Court of Appeal of Marrakech has decided to postpone the trial of the Kuwaiti pedophile, prosecuted for sexual abuse on a minor under 15 years of age, to July 21.
The absence of new elements in the file and the non-appearance of the accused seem to justify the court’s decision, reports the website Rue20, recalling the request of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights.
The latter had requested the opening of an investigation into the motivations of the decision to grant provisional release to the Kuwaiti national, who was supposed to be under judicial control, and without his passport. A decision which, according to the association, had deprived the victim of her right to a fair trial by giving the aggressor the opportunity to escape justice.
To recall, the Kuwaiti ambassador in Rabat, while calling for trust in justice, had denied any intervention by the embassy in the case. "The Embassy of Kuwait respects justice and has not intervened in the conduct of this trial, let alone facilitated the escape of the Kuwaiti national," he stressed.
