Marrakech Comedy Festival Postponed Due to Venue Restoration, Organizers Announce

After a spectacular 10th anniversary, the Marrakech du Rire is taking a new break. Jamel Debbouze and his team will not be there this year, according to the statement from the organizers.
The organizing team of the Marrakech du Rire and its partner, the M6 group, have announced the postponement of the 2023 edition. Announced to be the one of renewal after the celebrations of the 10th anniversary, the impossibility of welcoming the festival’s spectators within the Palais Badii currently undergoing restoration, spoils Jamel Debbouze’s plans.
"It is with regret but also out of attachment to the identity of the Festival that it has been decided to postpone it, as no other site can replace this emblematic place that has seen the birth and growth of the Festival," the statement published by the organizers points out. "Jamel Debbouze and all the Festival teams would like to thank the public for their loyalty," it reads.
The cancellation of the festival has triggered a wave of reactions on the web. Many have expressed their disappointment, as they were hoping to enjoy this time of laughter and humor in Morocco.
