Marrakech Butcher Arrested for Selling Suspicious Meat

Information has recently circulated about the arrest of a butcher in the Derb Nakhla souk in Bab Doukkala, accused of selling dog meat while passing it off as red meat.
According to well-informed sources, the accusation of selling dog meat is unfounded. In reality, it would rather be the marketing of white meats of unknown origin.
The case began with the arrest of the butcher and his brother in their business. This arrest follows the interrogations conducted by the Royal Gendarmerie, after the arrest of the main supplier of these meats in Tassoultante. The latter was transporting white meats in deplorable conditions on board a light vehicle.
Questioned by the law enforcement, the supplier admitted to having delivered quantities of these meats to the two brothers, owners of a chicken and white meat sales business in the Derb Nakhla souk. Following these confessions, the Royal Gendarmerie went to the business to proceed with the arrest of the two brothers.
The accused were placed in custody before being released on bail. The amount of this bail was set at 5,000 dirhams. They are being prosecuted for the marketing of white meats of unknown origin.
