Marrakech Authorities Continue Crackdown on Illegal Commercial Structures

The local authorities of Marrakech have proceeded to demolish a cafe located on Avenue Moulay Rachid. The establishment was encroaching on the public domain. In recent months, several storefronts of cafes and restaurants have been demolished.
This operation is part of a campaign to free the public domain led by the authorities of the Marrakech-Safi region. The owner of the establishment had received a notification inviting him to vacate the space occupied without authorization, but did not respect the deadlines granted, reports the local site kech24.
The illegal occupation of the sidewalk by the cafe was hindering pedestrian traffic and disrupting traffic.
The Wali of the region, Farid Chourak, stressed the need to continue this campaign to free the public domain. He stated that the authorities would apply the laws in force in order to maintain public order.
