Marrakech and Agadir Rank Among Top 10 Global Destinations for Digital Nomads

Morocco, a destination of choice for remote workers. This is the finding of a recently released study that places two Moroccan cities in its top 10.
Cape Town, Marrakech and Nairobi are the most popular African cities for remote workers, according to a Resume.io study. To establish this ranking, the analysis was based on nearly 26,000 Instagram posts with the #digitalnomad hashtag, filtered to exclude spam accounts or bots. The data collected in April 2023 reveals that Cape Town is the champion of the ranking with a record of 9,428 hashtags.

Marrakech, second in the ranking, and Agadir, the capital of the South, also stood out with 4,482 and 1,546 hashtags respectively. Nairobi, on the other hand, ranks third, appreciated for its unique blend of work and nature. Egypt is not to be outdone with four of its cities - Luxor, Hurghada, Dahab and Cairo - also figuring in the top 10.
Beyond the podium, other African cities are making their presence felt in this ranking. Dakar, the Senegalese capital, and Algiers occupy the eighth and ninth places. Despite the end of lockdowns, the culture of digital nomadism "is reinventing itself in 2023", and the uncertain economic situation seems unlikely to hinder this booming telework trend, the study’s authors indicate.
Here is the list of the most attractive African cities for remote work according to the study:
• Cape Town - South Africa
• Marrakech - Morocco
• Nairobi - Kenya
• Luxor - Egypt
• Hurghada - Egypt
• Agadir - Morocco
• Dahab - Egypt
• Dakar - Senegal
• Algiers - Algeria
• Cairo - Egypt
