Marrakech and Agadir Dominate Morocco’s Tourism, Capturing 60% of Visitors

Marrakech and Agadir have once again been by far the most visited cities by foreign tourists. This also applies to Moroccans living abroad and local tourists.
According to figures released by the Tourism Observatory, 60% of the total overnight stays of tourists were in these two cities during the months of January and February, up 2% compared to 2018 figures. These data also reveal a 6% increase for the city of Marrakech and a near stagnation for the city of Agadir.
Regarding the number of overnight stays, the ochre city continues its momentum with a 10% increase, while the capital of Souss records a 5% increase, still according to the Tourism Observatory, which reports a 12% increase for Tangier, 8% for Essaouira and 3% for Fez.
The other Moroccan tourist hubs performed well during the first two months of the year. Tangier saw an increase of 7%, Fez 2%, Essaouira 9%, while Ouarzazate saw the number of tourists grow by 2%.
