Marrakech Airport Taxi System Plagued by Technical Issues, Union Official Reports

Taxi professionals at Marrakech-Menara airport are facing a number of difficulties listed by Rachida Khalifa, second deputy of the provincial secretary in Marrakech of the National Labor Union in Morocco.
In a statement to Kech24, Khalifa explained that repeated breakdowns of the electronic management system at the rotation counter block taxis’ access to the parking lot to pick up customers and regularly cause traffic jams in front of the airport. According to her, this situation disrupts the work of professionals and affects the quality of services provided.
The second deputy of the provincial secretary in Marrakech of the National Labor Union in Morocco also mentioned recurring errors in the addresses provided by the counter to drivers, forcing them to turn to customers or tourists for clarification on their destination.
Meant to organize work inside the airport, the automatic counter is now a source of problems, added Khalifa, explaining that in some cases, the counter has allowed small taxis bearing a "Gitex Exhibition" sticker to transport customers from Marrakech to destinations outside the city, in violation of current regulations.
The union representative did not fail to raise the issue of payment in foreign currencies by some tourists, noting that in some cases, they are paid in euros rather than Moroccan dirhams. She also deplored the persistence of the phenomenon of intrusion by certain individuals into the airport premises to transport clients and tourists in private vehicles or tourist transport vehicles.
