Marrakech Airport: 138,000 passengers expected in one week, France is the leading market

Marrakech confirms its status as the locomotive of national tourism. The airport of the ochre city is about to experience a particularly busy week of activity, illustrating the good health of the sector which is based on a long-term national investment strategy.

According to information reported by Le Desk, Marrakech-Menara airport is expected to host 734 international flights between November 3 and 9. These flights are expected to transport a total of 138,437 passengers. Over the same period, 48 domestic flights are also planned, adding 7,324 passengers.

Analysis of the source markets shows that France remains in the lead, with 229 flights and nearly 43,000 passengers expected. It is followed by the United Kingdom (112 flights and 21,425 passengers) and Spain (91 flights and 16,818 passengers). The Italian, German and American markets complete this ranking.

A national plan to support growth

These figures are part of a positive national dynamic, with the Ministry of Tourism’s forecasts targeting a total of 18 million arrivals by the end of 2025. To support this objective, a large-scale investment program is planned by 2030.

The Minister of Transport, Abdessamad Kayouh, outlined this plan to Parliament, announcing a total cost of 38 billion dirhams. This investment aims to modernize and expand the capacity of the country’s strategic airports, particularly those in Rabat-Salé and Tétouan (in progress), as well as those in Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier and Fez.

The national carrier is also contributing. The Royal Air Maroc (RAM) fleet is expected to increase from 60 to 62 aircraft by the end of 2025, and then to 71 in 2026, thanks to the delivery of new Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
