Marpc: Luxury villas soon to be demolished?

The case came to light after the discovery of irregularities in the building permits and suspicions of illegal expropriation of collective lands as well as property belonging to the water and forestry administration, according to local sources cited by Al Akhbar. While some sources mention a single villa on the outskirts of Fnideq, rumors in the region suggest that all the millionaire’s villas could be affected by these demolitions.

Faced with this situation, a petition and a letter have been addressed to the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, to seek clarification on the status of the collective lands in question. The signatories insisted that the demolition orders should not be issued for the purposes of electoral manipulation or political maneuver. Attempts to put pressure on the provincial authorities have also been detected, with threats of complaints to the ministry and suspicions of involvement of people close to elected officials in the process.

The services of the Ministry of the Interior continue to establish detailed reports on the alleged illegal constructions, particularly those located on the maritime domain, collective lands or property of the water and forestry administration. A villa has already been demolished in the prefecture of M’diq following a court decision, even though the owners have contested having occupied collective lands. Various social and political actors are calling for transparency in the management of these files and are demanding that court decisions be executed without distinction or favoritism. The investigations are ongoing in order to shed full light on these irregularities.
