Maritime Traffic Resumes Between Morocco’s Tanger Med and Spain’s Algeciras Ports Amid Pandemic

The two port authorities of Tanger Med and the Bay of Algeciras are intensifying their respective port activities in service of national and international supply chains, despite the risks related to the global pandemic.
The maritime links between the two ports and the daily rotations of ships are operating normally, and more particularly, the international road TIR traffic for commercial exchanges in import as well as in export, between Morocco and the European Union.
These exchanges take into account agro-industrial, agri-food, health and pharmaceutical flows... and thus allow the maintenance of the respective supply chains.
In doing so, regular exchanges of information and best practices take place between the two port authorities. In addition, regular videoconference meetings are organized to ensure the fluidity and continuity of operations.
Furthermore, the two port authorities continue the exchanges and joint work for the implementation of the trade facilitation system through the Strait. This includes the digitized exchange of data on the traceability of goods and trucks throughout the various access control points in the two port areas.
Furthermore, the commitment of the entire port community as well as the control authorities that make up the logistics chain of this maritime bridge is to be commended in order to ensure the management of these trade flows, it is said.
