New Maritime Route to Connect Spain’s Huelva Port with Morocco in Early 2022

The port of Huelva plans to launch a regular maritime line with Morocco in the first quarter of 2022, announced Pilar Miranda, the president of the port authority.
During the presentation of the balance sheet for the past year, Miranda indicated that the new line with Morocco will be launched as early as the first quarter of this year and the one with the United Kingdom, probably before the summer. The port of Huelva ended the year 2021 with a total traffic volume of more than 30.5 million tons, an increase of 2.5% compared to the previous year. Its turnover, on the other hand, exceeded 43.7 million euros, an increase of 2.1% compared to 2020, details Miranda.
"The development of an investment plan has made it possible to increase the capacity of our infrastructures and to ensure more efficiency in port operations," she added, stressing that Huelva has positioned itself as "the leader of the Spanish port system in terms of passenger and freight transport with the Canary Islands". More than 77 million euros have been invested in strengthening the infrastructure to strengthen the competitiveness of the port of Huelva, assured the president of the Port Authority, who announces extension works on the south jetty of 525 meters for an amount of 33 million euros.
In terms of connectivity, the port of Huelva has renewed the entire internal road and rail network to facilitate transport in its service area. It plans to undertake other modernization work on its infrastructure during the year.
