New Maritime Route to Boost UK-Morocco Trade, Slash Transit Times

An expedition of 100 shipments of seasonal organic fruits and vegetables by the maritime line to connect the port of Tangier Med to that of Poole (United Kingdom) should be effective very soon.
This new maritime service will be operational on a weekly basis, with dry and refrigerated freight as its main activity. The advantages of the Morocco/UK maritime line are numerous. The overall transit times of goods to and from the UK will now drop from more than six days by road to three days. It will also promote exports, particularly of agricultural products.
The Tangier Med (Morocco)/Poole (UK) maritime line will allow British importers to source fresh and other products directly from Africa, and export companies to improve their trade to Morocco and the surrounding region. Planned for more than two years, this route will also bypass post-Brexit congestion and import procedures for goods arriving via Europe.
United Seaways intends to offer the new direct line at competitive rates, and promises a significant reduction in emissions, full logistics services, door-to-door services, customs clearance and storage services. This company plans to move from a RoRo or unaccompanied freight service only to a RoPax service which is accompanied by freight.
"The Port of Poole has worked closely with United Seaways to establish this ’Brexit Buster’ service," said Captain Brian Murphy, Director of Marine and Port at Poole Harbour Commissioners. "The service will provide a more environmentally friendly and faster option for importers and exporters of both kingdoms and we look forward to receiving the first shipment from Tangier soon," he added.
