Marine Le Pen Urges Crackdown on Mosque Loudspeaker Calls to Prayer During Lockdown

The president of the National Rally (RN), Marine Le Pen, claims that mosques are taking advantage of the containment instructions to broadcast the muezzin’s call to prayer through loudspeakers. She calls on the Minister of the Interior to put an end to these noise nuisances.
In an open letter to Christophe Castaner, Marine Le Pen reports her observations. "For some time now, a number of mosques have been taking advantage of the confinement and the deployment of security forces in the cities to sound the muezzin’s call to Islamic prayer through loudspeakers," she writes. According to the president of the RN, the mosques concerned are those in Lyon and Valentigney (Doubs).
"We are thus witnessing a new escalation in the illegal occupation of the public domain by sound by groups seeking to seize any opportunity to push back the principles of secularism in our Republic and thus openly defy the republican state," affirms Marine Le Pen.
"Unless we allow the country to drift towards situations that will become increasingly difficult to control, it is no longer possible to look the other way," she continues.
Faced with this situation, the deputy from Pas-de-Calais "urgently" calls on the Minister of the Interior "to put an end to these noise nuisances through strict and rapid enforcement of the law and, if necessary, through legal action".
