Réunion Island Allows Muslim Call to Prayer During Ramadan Amid COVID-19 Lockdown

The call to prayer (adhan) by loudspeaker, at sunset, at the time of prayer in the Maghreb, will gradually resume from Thursday, April 16, announced the Regional Council of the Muslim Cult (CRCM).
According to the president of the CRCM, Nazir Patel, the adhan, launched by a muezzin, will be adapted "as provided for in the texts in such circumstances, in order to allow everyone to pray at home", during this period marked by confinement and the closure of mosques due to covid-19.
"This call, so dear to our hearts, and which has always been a landmark for the faithful, will also indicate the time of the breaking of the fast," specifies the CRCM. According to Nazir Patel, the regional body reaffirms its commitment to the fight against the spread of the coronavirus, and remains in solidarity with all its Reunionese compatriots.
The CRCM of Réunion has also produced a video in which it has called on Reunionese to respect the confinement measures and to support the authorities and healthcare personnel in their fight against the coronavirus.
