Manhunt Underway for 13 Dangerous Patients After Mass Escape from Moroccan Psychiatric Hospital

A total of 14 patients - some of whom are particularly dangerous - escaped from the Inzegane psychiatric hospital in the Agadir region. One of the escapees was arrested, while the other 13 are still actively being sought.
The events took place at the end of last week in the absence of the managers of the Inzegane psychiatric hospital, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. The escape of these 14 patients - some of whom are considered dangerous and would pose a threat to public order - mobilized local authorities and the royal gendarmerie services. One of the escaped patients, who would have a serious criminal record, was arrested by the gendarmes. As for the 13 other patients, they are still actively being sought.
According to the explanations of the director of the psychiatric establishment, the patients would have taken advantage of the renovation and restoration work being carried out on site to organize this mass escape. This escape is also explained by the pressure suffered by the hospital staff: difficult working conditions, overcrowding within the establishment and the arrival of several "serious patients," he added. These justifications do not convince trade unionists and association actors who point to the negligence of the establishment’s managers.
