Manchester United Set to Pass on Amrabat, Eye Luton’s Barkley as Replacement

Moroccan international midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, currently on loan to Manchester United from Fiorentina, is not going through his best moment. The English club is looking to recruit a player from Luton Town to replace him.
Sofyan Amrabat pushed towards the exit at Manchester United? The English club, which invested £8.5 million for his loan last summer, does not intend to exercise the €21.5 million purchase option for the Atlas Lion at the end of his loan, according to The Sun. Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of the club, is showing interest in Luton Town midfielder Ross Barkley, whom he considers a cost-effective replacement for the Moroccan. The 27-year-old player will be sent back to Serie A in a few months.
Recruited at the end of the summer transfer window, the one who is one of the architects of the historic journey of the Atlas Lions at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is struggling to impose himself at Old Trafford. He has not started a club match since mid-December, after being excluded by Kobbie Mainoo. The young English talent played on November 29, 2023, his first Champions League match, replacing the Atlas Lion in the 3-3 draw away against Galatasaray. Since then, he has been performing very well, far surpassing the Moroccan international.
