Man Arrested for Fake COVID-19 Stunt and Threatening Public in Morocco

A repeat offender was arrested by the judicial police of El Jadida on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a case of public drunkenness. He is also suspected of threatening and participating in the production and dissemination of a video containing erroneous data about the new coronavirus pandemic.
No rest for the central cell for digital monitoring and surveillance set up to fight against fake news. In its round of verification of digital content, it noted a video in which the suspect is seen wearing a mask and clothes similar to the medical team’s coveralls, while simulating his contamination with Covid-19. According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the defendant threatened and intimidated a citizen on the public highway by pretending to cough next to her in order to infect her.
The research and investigations led to his identification and arrest. He was placed in custody, pending the investigation that will determine the ins and outs of his actions and elucidate the motives for the publication of this video that undermines the security and safety of citizens.
