Morocco Arrests Man for Spreading Hateful COVID-19 Content Online

A 28-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in the dissemination of digital content inciting hatred and insult. The operation was jointly carried out by the judicial police elements of the city of Zaïo and the central service for the fight against crimes related to new technologies.
According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the accused had disseminated on social networks, content in which he rejoices at the increase in cases of contamination by the new coronavirus in Morocco. Moreover, he despises the deceased persons and the patients, by uttering hateful remarks.
He was subjected to a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to "determine all the circumstances and the ins and outs of the perpetration of these criminal acts".
