Mali’s Military Leader Thanks Morocco’s King for Crisis Resolution Support

Colonel Assimi Goita, president of the National Committee for the Salvation of the People (CNSP) in Mali, expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI for the role played by Morocco in resolving the crisis the country is going through.
On Tuesday, Mr. Goita received an audience with the Moroccan ambassador to Mali. During this meeting, which took place at the Kati military camp (15 km from Bamako), the president of the CNSP expressed his "deep gratitude" to King Mohammed for the active contribution of the kingdom to the efforts made to resolve the crisis.
Speaking, Colonel Assimi Goita said that the ambassador was the first diplomat to make contact on Thursday, August 20 with the new authorities. He also hailed the centuries-old relations and the fruitful partnership between the two brotherly countries.
The evolution of the situation in Mali following the events of the 18th was also at the heart of the discussions. The Moroccan diplomat was informed of the confidence-building and appeasement measures taken. According to the president of the CNPS, the political transition will be the subject of debate between the different components of Malian society.
