Malaga FC Cuts 11 Players, Including Moroccan Goalkeeper, Amid Financial Strain

The Andalusian second division football club, Malaga FC, has been forced to part ways with 11 players, including Moroccan goalkeeper, Mounir El Muhamadi. The announcement was made on Monday by the team’s management.
The health crisis obliges the club to maintain its cash flow, by doing without the services of 11 starters, despite the impact of this decision on the formation of the first team.
According to Spanish media, Moroccan goalkeeper Munir El Muhamadi, 3 defenders, 3 midfielders and the Uruguayan striker Diego Roland are all on the club’s departure list.
The decision would have been motivated, according to the same sources, by the refusal of certain professionals to lower their salaries, especially during the pandemic period. The management is no longer able to pay salaries above 200,000 euros.
