Major Drug Bust: 2 Tons of Cannabis Seized in France-Morocco Trafficking Operation

A police operation led to the dismantling of a drug trafficking network between Spain, France and Morocco. The investigation, which lasted a full year, led to the seizure of 2 tons of cannabis resin, 1.5 kg of cocaine, handguns and luxury watches.

The head of the network was apprehended in Malaga, Spain, and 14 other individuals were arrested in various locations in France, reports France Télévision.

This spectacular crackdown is the result of the "All In" investigation, which stems from a cocaine trafficking case solved two years earlier, "No Name". The investigation team was substantial, with a dedicated team in Marseille and the support of various specialized units and experts. The organization of the network evoked that of a commercial company, supplying the whole of France from supply platforms.

The capture of the truck took place at the Remoulins toll booth, in the Gard. The semi-trailer, making up to five trips per week from Spain, was transporting more than a ton of cannabis on each trip. The immobilization of this vehicle by the GIGN marked a turning point in the investigation, making it possible to trace back to all the actors in the network.

Although this operation represents a major success in the fight against drug trafficking, the investigation is far from over. The head of the investigation cell insisted that there is still a lot to be done. For now, eleven people linked to this vast drug trafficking network have been indicted, nine of whom have been placed in pre-trial detention.
