Major Drug Bust in Beauvais: 475kg Cannabis Seized, Morocco Link Uncovered

Morocco has been identified as a starting point for a large-scale drug trafficking network, which was dismantled in the Beauséjour district of Beauvais on Monday, March 13.

The judicial police (PJ) of Amiens, in collaboration with the PJ of Creil, carried out a search in a house suspected of being used as a hideout for the network. Their investigations led to the impressive seizure of 475 kilograms of cannabis, as well as two automatic weapons "of the type of war weapons" and bulletproof vests.

Four people, including the couple who occupied the house, were taken into custody, including a former shisha bar owner who could have been the head of the local network, as well as a taxi driver who could have transported the goods. The investigation is ongoing to identify other suspects who may have been involved in the drug trafficking, with alleged links to the Île-de-France and Brittany regions via Morocco.

The Beauvais public prosecutor’s office has announced that this operation was carried out on a letter rogatory from an investigating judge of the Beauvais judicial court.

This police operation was carried out in the utmost secrecy, after a thorough two-year investigation, and the authorities remain vigilant as to the identification of other individuals involved in this drug trafficking network. A new search took place this Wednesday, March 15 in a fishing hut in Milly-sur-Thérain to apprehend a suspect still being sought.
