Macron Invited to Morocco After France Backs Sahara Sovereignty

King Mohammed V has sent a message to Emmanuel Macron, following the announcement of France’s official support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara. The Moroccan Sovereign invites the French President to visit Morocco.
Here is the full text of the King’s message:
"Mr. President of the Republic, I have received with interest the important Message that You kindly addressed to Me on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Feast.
I thank You for Your warm wishes and Your personal commitment to strengthening the partnership between Our two countries.
I am particularly pleased with the clear and strong position that France adopts, in Your Message, on the Moroccan Sahara.
I fully appreciate the clear support that Your country provides to Morocco’s sovereignty over this part of its territory, the firmness of the French support for autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as a solution to this regional dispute, thus consecrating, by the same token, the plan proposed by Morocco since 2007 as the only basis for achieving it.
By recognizing Morocco’s legal titles and its immemorial rights, France contributes to strengthening the international dynamic already carried by a very large number of countries and thus putting an end to a conflict inherited from another era.
Thanks to the significant evolution of the French position and Your determination to act accordingly at the internal and international levels, Our two countries will be able to work together to achieve a solution that, within the framework of the United Nations, fully respects Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
The Moroccan people and its driving forces measure the full importance of this decision, emanating from a permanent member of the Security Council, intimate connoisseur of the past and present of North Africa and privileged witness of the evolution of this regional dispute.
In this context, and thanks to the positive dynamics that Our bilateral relations are experiencing, promising prospects are opening up for Our two countries in many strategic sectors, making it possible to strengthen the exceptional partnership built, for decades, on friendship and trust.
In this regard, and as had been mentioned during Our previous exchanges, I would be pleased to welcome You to Morocco for a State Visit, the dates of which will be set through diplomatic channels.
Please accept, Mr. President, the assurance of My high consideration."
