Luxury Radio Station Warned for Hidden Advertising in Morning Show

Luxe radio received a warning from the Higher Council of Communication for clandestine advertising. This sanction follows a self-referral by the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA), with regard to the editions of the program "Les matins Luxe", broadcast from July 1 to 5, 2019.
The warning received by the radio responds to the standards established by the legal and regulatory provisions applicable to audiovisual communication and relating to clandestine advertising.
While taking note of Luxe radio’s response to the request for explanations addressed by the HACA, the Higher Council found that the program explicitly and repeatedly presented a specific commercial brand during the five editions of the program.
It also considered that the argued and openly promotional presentation of the products of this brand was likely to mislead the listeners due to the confusion between information and advertising.
In addition to the warning received, the Higher Council also decided, on Thursday, October 3, to publish the decision in the Official Bulletin and ordered Luxe radio to read a statement on the air regarding the sanction.
