Low-Cost Airline Tickets Could Surge 50% Due to Social Distancing Measures

Moroccan travelers risk paying more for their low-cost airline tickets due to the social distancing to be observed during flights. According to the British airline data analyst OAG, compliance with this measure would result in a 50% increase in the price of low-cost tickets.
The impact of a policy that would involve leaving an empty seat between each passenger was at the heart of OAG’s reflections. The British airline data analyst indicates that the implementation of such a policy would increase the current low-cost ticket price by 52%, reports L’Indépendant.
The experts arrived at this conclusion by first identifying the average yield per passenger on five of the world’s major low-cost airlines. Then they calculated the fares that would need to be imposed to obtain equivalent profits. But an increase in the price of low-cost airline tickets would be paradoxical. Insofar as this would literally go against the business model of these companies. As a result, Moroccan travelers will now have to spend more money to afford a low-cost airline ticket.
Already, JetBlue, United, Alaska or American Airlines have limited the number of travelers by making the middle seats unavailable.
