Lorraine Airport Reduced to Single Weekly Flight Amid Pandemic, Plans Solar Project

Severely affected by the health crisis related to the coronavirus, Lorraine Airport is, for the time being, reduced to a weekly flight operated by the airline TUI fly to Morocco.
TUI fly operates this flight from Lorraine Airport to Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. Pending a relaunch of activity at this French airport, the time has come to implement a project. This is the future installation of a photovoltaic park covering the entire Lorraine Airport parking lot. On Friday, this project was submitted to a vote during the permanent commission, reports L’Est Républicain.
With a capacity of 6.6 MWp, this installation will allow an annual production of 7,450 MWh per year, which represents the annual electricity consumption of 2,900 inhabitants. With this project, the Metz-Nancy-Lorraine Public Establishment (EPMNL) has the guarantee of a rent of 60,000 euros per year for a minimum period of 30 years. Enough to relieve the equipment in these times of Covid-19. "It is a positive signal and proof that we are not inactive in supporting this airport," says Brigitte Torloting, regional councilor, mayor of Louvigny and president of the EPMNL.
