Long Delays at Ceuta Border Crossing Frustrate Moroccan Travelers

For Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) who prefer the crossing via the Port of Ceuta, be aware that, in recent days, it has taken several hours of waiting before reaching the other side of the border.
This week, a Moroccan, quoted by the website, El Faro de Ceuta, spoke of a wait of up to 12 hours, to return to Ceuta. Leaving the same morning from one of the hotels in the city of Fnideq (Ibis, not to mention it), he had to wait until night to cross into Ceuta. "There are three lanes to drive, but when you reach the police checkpoint, motorists have to make do with just one lane. This is therefore impossible."
This situation has been repeating itself for several days now, warns the local newspaper. A few days ago, the situation was such that the Moroccan authorities decided to simply close the border post while waiting for the situation to stabilize.
For those who fear going through this ordeal, know that the Tanger-Med Port is only about thirty kilometers from Ceuta and that the crossing, at least for now, is much smoother and without incident.
