"Little Birds" Series Brings 1950s Tangier Eroticism to Starzplay

The series Little Birds, an adaptation of Anaïs Nin’s erotic short stories, is on Starzplay. It tells the story of a wealthy American who arrives in [Tangier] in the 1950s, on the eve of Morocco’s independence.
"Entering the world of Little Birds is to enter a waking dream, to rediscover a buried memory... Disconcerting, incongruous, its images bathe in an unreal, old-fashioned atmosphere without ever plunging into vulgarity or pornography," explains Juno Temple, who plays the role of Lucy Savage, the main actress in the series who tells the story of a rich American debutante who arrived in Tangier in the 1950s, with her father, a weapons manufacturer.
Juno Temple’s father marries her off to a British aristocrat posted in Tangier, unaware that his daughter’s new husband had particular sexual tastes. He preferred men. In search of pleasure, the young New Yorker, educated in the upper bourgeoisie and according to the rules of the Protestant Church, discovers the brothels thanks to Cherifa Lamour, Tangier’s renowned prostitute at the time.
"The series shows heroines who chase after pleasure without being able to reach it, but remains discreet. I like the idea that each woman discovers her inner fire. Little Birds will elicit very different reactions in each of us. For once, it’s the men who undress more than we do," she comments.
