Lille Airport Rebounds: Morocco Routes and Summer Travel Boost Traffic to 80% of Pre-Pandemic Levels

The reopening of lines to Morocco has benefited Lille airport, where air traffic this year has reached 80% of 2019 before the Covid-19 crisis.
Improvement at Lille airport, in northern France. The assessment made by the management in mid-November shows that the airport "has regained a sustained activity, mainly during the summer season." A season during which "sun destinations" are widely popular. The summer destinations number 54 in 2022, almost the number recorded in 2019 which is 57, it is specified.
According to the management, the proposal by the Volotea company of about twenty destinations this year and the reopening of lines to Morocco and Algeria have contributed to the success of Lille airport. Passenger traffic has increased (69.7%) compared to 2021 and has reached 80% of the traffic recorded over the same period in 2019. "From April to September, we noted month after month a nice progression," comments Marc-André Gennart, CEO of Lille airport.
