Libyan MP Dies of COVID-19 in Morocco After Peace Talks

Libyan MP Omar Garmil died on Sunday, December 13, from Covid-19 in Morocco, after participating in late November in the Libyan peace talks.
According to a diplomatic source, the elected official was hospitalized in Tangier, where he died of Covid-19. The UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) based in Tripoli, as well as the United Nations mission in Libya (UNSMIL), have presented their condolences to the bereaved family, reports MAP.
Mr. Garmil had participated in late November in a consultative meeting in Tangier alongside 120 other members of the House of Representatives. At the end of this meeting, the elected officials once again displayed their determination to "put an end to the divisions" that have destabilized the country.
